NJMP Report 2016:

The dust has finally settled and the the air has cooled down. After a long and hard fought weekend here is the wrap-up from the final rounds of the Gearup F Series !

Formula Tag:
#75 Alex Salsbury took to the track for his first weekend competing in the highly competitive Formula Tag class. With over 30 karts in the class both days It took a lot of patience and skill to do battle with many fierce competitors! Alex put on a great show making his way through the field and netting a great result for his first experience within the class.

Formula 125:
#74 Team owner Gregory Gleisner had an outstanding weekend finishing on the podium both days. Although minor mechanical issues prevented him from finishing higher up, he had a solid second place run going both days, with extended battles for the lead!

andrew#71 Andrew Salsbury took out his fresh GGR Kart to compete in his first Gearup race. Andrew was showing great speed all weekend. He had great fun both days learning a new track and competing against many different drivers!

#288 Craig Drabik also had a great weekend! Although he didn’t quite have the speed he was looking for, Craig still made tons of ground on lots of competitors and was consistent the whole weekend! Craig would finish his second full time Gearup season in the top 10 in points!

#77 Will Salisbury was looking to cap off his championship run with more podium finishes, however badluck more than anything prevented him from doing it the way they had anticipated. Putting himself in a position to finish on the podium and secure his championship all weekend, Will did what he needed to do, but mechanical issues plagued the #77 crew all weekend. Will put on incredible shows both days, and made his way from the back of the field twice to within the top 3. However, when the dust settled and the racing was over it was concluded that Will had indeed scored enough points to win the Formula 125 class championship by 1 single point! Making his victory Will’s first Gearup F Series championship, and GGR Karts first championship as a chassis.

Boston Report:

alex

Round 5 of the Gearup F Series was recently contested on the remarkable F1 Boston circuit in East Bridgewater, Ma.

grid

3 GGR drivers took to the track to due battle in one of the most intense races of the season! Due to lower kart counts the formula 355 and formula 125 classes were both integrated together, however scored separately. This integration led to tremendous battles throughout the entire 22 kart field.

alex

In the highly competitive Formula 355 class, the #75 Alex Salsbury showed tremendous pace during Saturday practice posting his fastest times of the weekend only within a few tenths of the leaders. However, come race day engine issues plagued the #75 crew and resulted in less than optimal finishes. Alex did his best to stay competitive but the loss of power did not put him in contention for a good result.

Slightly farther back in the Formula 125 class #77 Will Salisbury missed out on pole position by .2 tenths after a throttle cable broke during qualifying. Going into this race weekend Will was only 2 points behind the leader in the championship points. The #77 GGR crew showed very competitive pace all day and were very mindful of consecutive finishes to gain valuable points towards the championship. Will would acquire a 5th, 3rd, and 2nd place finish in the heat races to result in an overall 2nd place finish. This would be the fourth consecutive podium finish for Will and the #77 GGR crew.

Another GGR driver showing very competitive pace this weekend was the #288 of Craig Drabik. Craig seemed to have the opposite weekend of Alex by having many motor issues on Saturday practice, however turning around and resulting in his best ever finish in F125. After a lot of work the #288 crew overcame their engine troubles and put on a great show passing many karts on the track. Craig obtained a 12th, 8th, and 4th place finish throughout the three races and was consistently getting faster.

GGR Karts would like to thank our tremendous crew and families for the continued support and effort at each race!

The Pitt Report

It was a scorching hot weekend in Pittsburgh for round 3 of the Gearup F Series. All 3 GGR drivers showed tremendous speed and improvement throughout the weekend on the new slick surface. As the temperatures increased in the air, the track quickly obtained a worse sunburn than the people. After two rounds of racing, track officials, and F Series crew decided to cancel the remaining races due to the track picking up and condition deteriorating from the new surface. Only the first 2 races were scored.

GGR

In the highly competitive Formula 355 class, team owner Greg Gleisner #74 qualified 10th and made his way near the front of the pack in the first race. Following closely behind him was #75 Alex Salsbury who qualified 11th and also had great battles on track. In race 2 both Greg and Alex made their way to the front of the field before getting shuffled around. Both drivers made many improvements and continued to pick up speed before the track began to give way. Greg would finish unofficially 7th, and Alex unofficially 8th.

In the Formula 125 class #77 Will Salisbury grabbed the pole by .7 tenths over second place. Will picked up his first heat win by a wheel length in race 1. In race 2 Will would finish 1st on track, but an on track incident resulted in a 4th place penalty. Will would unofficially finish on the podium in 2nd position.

GGR Karts would like to thank our tremendous crew and families for the continued support and effort at each race!

Next race is round 4 of the Gearup F Series, July 29-30th at Saint Lawrence Motorsports Park!

Gearup F Series- Round 1 Report

(Webster, NY)  While everyone up north is still trying to thaw out this spring, the action on track was real hot in North Carolina. The GoPro Motorplex was the location for round 1 of the 2016 Gearup F Series. As always the series put on another great show at a wonderful venue.  GGR Karts drivers took to the track to do battle and secure points in the opening round.

Alex did a great job on track as battles occurred throughout  the field. With a 10th place finish in Race 1 and 11th in Race 2, Alex managed to pick up positions in the final race to finish in 8th position. Overall he showed impressive speed and was able to hang with the lead group throughout most of the races.

GGRThe Formula 125 class boasted an impressive 24 kart field as #77 Will Salisbury managed to qualify 4th after his qualifying run was cut short.  It was a good day for Will as he was able to grab the lead in both Race 1 and 2 early, before last lap passes resulted in very close 2nd place finishes. The final race of the day came down to the wire as the GGR Karts driver did his best to hold off the other two challengers but came up just short, topping off the streak of 2nd place finishes for the day.  Continuing from the end of last year, Will would climb another step onto the podium and score valuable points to begin the championship season.

GGR Karts would like to thank the Gearup F Series staff and crew, and all of our supporters in our continued efforts!

Stay tuned for the next race!
